Share a file in a channel
Post a file with context so the right people see it in the flow of conversation.
When you share a file in a channel, it stays visible in the conversation thread where team members can find it later. Adding a message alongside the file gives context so everyone understands why it matters and what to do with it.
Open the channel where you want to share.
Add a Message with the file — it becomes the thread everyone replies under.
The message you write becomes the thread where replies and feedback gather, keeping all discussion tied to the file itself.
Click Share file — members are notified and the file is indexed for search.
Channel members see a notification right away, and the file is automatically indexed so it shows up in search results when anyone needs it later.
What's next
Once the file is shared, team members can reply in the thread to ask questions or provide feedback without cluttering the main channel feed.
