Set up your chart of accounts

Add the accounts your business needs beyond the standard template.

You'll add accounts tailored to your business so your chart of accounts reflects how you actually spend and earn money.

Custom accounts make bookkeeping clearer and let you track expenses and income in the categories that matter to you.

In Accounts, click New account.

The Accounts section is where all your chart of accounts lives — both the defaults and any you create.

Enter an account name that keeps bookkeeping readable, for example "Software subscriptions".

Pick a code in the right range. Expense accounts live in the 6000s.

Click Create account. It is available immediately when coding transactions.

Once created, your new account appears immediately in dropdown lists across the product, so you can start using it right away.
