You'll create a work order that coordinates your maintenance crew with the traffic department, ensuring detour signage is in place before work begins.
This keeps your schedule clear of conflicts with other closures and events on the same route, so traffic flows smoothly around your project.
Open Work Orders in the sidebar.
Work orders are where you log all the details of your maintenance job in one place.
Click New work order.
Enter a title and pick the road segment. Segments come from the city's GIS layer.
The GIS layer gives you precise road segments so the traffic department knows exactly where to post detours.
Pick a night window. CivicGrid flags conflicts with events and other closures on the same route.
If CivicGrid flags a conflict, choose a different night window — overlapping closures create dangerous confusion for drivers.
Click Schedule work order. The traffic department is notified to plan detour signage.
Scheduling the work order immediately notifies the traffic department, so they have maximum time to order and install signage.

Once your work order is scheduled, the traffic department will confirm detour placement and send you a timeline for signage installation. Check back on your work order for updates as the project date approaches.
